Consultancy Projects

Members of Education Interactive have provided material for many organisations.

Projects

ACCAC: In 2005 we won a commission to produce a series of large format books to support data handling across key stages 2 and 3. The materials consist of A2 flip books for teacher use together with a comprehensive pack of supporting worksheets and a CD-Rom containing interactive whiteboard materials and easy to use data sets. Both Welsh language and English versions are available.

Access to Schooling: We developed a completely new 10 week course in mathematics for upper secondary new arrivals waiting for admission to mainstream school. These included pre and post-testing and tracking materials plus a worksheet based course for independent study designed for stage 1 EAL with on-line activities and investigations.

BBC A(S) Guru: We wrote 60% of the materials (principally the methods module and the statistics sections), designed the format and the interactive materials plus consulting fully throughout the project.

BBC GCSE Bitesize: We have provided questions sets and sample exam papers. Also we re-wrote and provided full consultancy on the re-designed GCSE video series.

BBC Key Skills: We prepared the DIY project sections and wrote the test papers.

The BBC Digital Curriculum project, now called BBC Jam. Chris has been a key consultant from the very start of this project and was a principal contributor to the project’s proof of concept phase.

BECTA: We have contributed a wide range of work for ICT advice service; web links publications, newsletters, ask-an-expert, evaluation, run workshops for BECTA/DfES roadshows. In April 2006 we managed and ran the London regional roadshow.

ContinYou: We have provided sets of games and run the ContinYou inset sessions with Mr Numbervator to support schools setting up maths clubs.

Count On: We managed all of the activities for the London Maths Fest and provided the question sets for the ‘Who wants to be a Mathenaire’ game.

Deutsche Bank: we are developing a set of 4 financial literacy games for Deutsche Bank with SumIt/ContinYou. The first game is called The Island Game and deals with currency conversions and credit and debit cards in a holiday scenario.

Enriching Mathematics: we have been the administrators of the this project, funded by Lehmann Brothers, in Tower Hamlets, East London. This is run by the NRich team, providing a full year course in developing mathematical thinking for high achieving year 10 students.

Lewisham Talent: We have provided the principal secondary mathematics input to the Lewisham Talent ICT training service. Running Inset, designing publications and providing materials for the web site.

MathsOnline: We provided sets of lesson plans and support materials covering a wide range of topics.

Network Training: We have contributed sessions to the Network Training programme including: NQTs in maths, Numeracy across the curriculum, ICT in Maths, Managing a maths department, ...

Number Partners: This is a business volunteering scheme designed to bring support to students mainly in KS2 and 3 around playing maths games. Chris has been the manager of this national projects since it’s inception. Recently we have designed two financial literacy games (Web Wheeler Dealer and The Savings Game) for use in upper secondary (see our online shop for details).

Ocean Maths: We have prepared materials for years 8 and 9. The project aims to develop parents working with students at home on their maths. The materials are 4 page booklets containing historical/contextual background, orientation activities, collaborative game activities and investigative and research activities.

QCA: Over 2004/2005 we undertook a range of commissions for QCA supporting their development of new and existing qualifications.
